Benediction and Doxology

canticle-of-zechariah

“Benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini …”

benediction is a pronouncement of divine blessing, representing a unifying call to faith, patience, and practice for the faithful based on the certainty and divine principle of God, usually shared at the conclusion of the worship service. A benediction is a short, concise statement given in the form of a petition, an assurance, a promise or principle.

doxology is a short hymn of praises to God in various Christian worship services, often added to the end of canticles, songs, and hymns. The tradition derives from a similar practice in the Jewish Synagogue, where some version of the Kaddish serves to terminate each section of the service.
